Parlaeus: better digital services for cities and towns thanks to Nalantis’ language technology

Cities and municipalities are constantly digitising in order to improve their services. City councils, for example, are live streamed and documents can be searched or requested digitally. The online platform by DocWolves and Nalantis makes these digital documents easier to find.

"What we offer with the Parlaeus platform is truly a new approach," says Rens Groeneveld of DocWolves. "The citizen uses the search screen to ask, for example, which sustainable measures his town is taking. With a standard search engine you would not really get good results. Thanks to Nalantis, our platform does."

That's because Nalantis specialises in AI developments for text analysis. This forms the middle ground between classic indexed search and advanced machine learning. In short: the best of both worlds.

"You can ask very ordinary, human questions via the platform and still get comprehensive answers that make sense," adds Groeneveld. This is important, because citizens and new council members do not know what search term they have to use to get a relevant result. Nalantis helps them to find what they are looking for."

Parlaeus was first rolled out in Maastricht and the results are promising. "People clearly see the added value. Their main goal is to serve the citizens, so if something supports them in finding their way in the decision-making process, that contributes very much to that."
