How KBC upgraded the efficiency, speed and quality of its hiring process

In the 'war for talent', recruiters increasingly need to distinguish themselves, even already during the selection procedure. At KBC, this gave rise to a new recruitment process in which Nalantis' artificial intelligence for HR was integrated.

"We work with digital tools based on artificial intelligence," says Hilde Maes (HR director at KBC). "We use those tools to make the decisions taken by our people better."

KBC had three objectives when setting up this process:

  1. Recruit the right candidates (of course!)

  2. Increase the efficiency of the recruitment process by reducing the lead time

  3. Ensure a good candidate experience for the applicant

The company chose to have their new talent acquisition platform, meeting all three of these objectives, developed by Nalantis. Specifically because we specialise in linguistic artificial intelligence. The process works as follows:

  • An applicant finds a vacancy on the KBC website;

  • This applicant presents theirself with some limited basic information and a resume;

  • The resume is then picked up by a CV-reader that uses artificial intelligence to analyse whether there is a match with KBC and the vacancy;

  • If there is no match, the result is passed on to the recruiter, who then decides whether or not the applicant will be passed on to the next stage;

  • If there is a match from the CV reader, the candidate is automatically invited to do online tests and answer five questions in a video interview that, again, is based on AI.

The data generated by the Nalantis technology allows recruiters to make better decisions. The speed of the procedure is also significantly increased. "We definitely want to build further on this," says Hilde Maes. "We are getting very good reactions from both the candidates and the hiring managers about the process itself. The technology also makes the process much shorter, which is good for our business. So it's a win-win for all parties."
