THE PROBLEM

Local city authorities have mountains of data, which only continue to grow as decisions are made on a monthly basis. This data overload makes it hard for city employees to quickly find and access the right information – it’s like finding a needle in a haystack, right? At the same time, citizens have questions and expect quick responses from city personnel regarding topics from garbage disposal to parking and building regulations. This is extremely frustrating for both the city employees and the citizens.

HOW WE SOLVE IT

Our proprietary AI system uses natural language understanding to contextually understand City Council decisions in unstructured format (Text, Video and Audio) across multiple languages. The NLU software extracts meaning from text through automatic semantic annotation at paragraph and sentence level. APIs are in place for easy, no-code/ low-code integration. Click here for access.

Understanding the true meaning of documents is possible by combining semantic pattern recognition, text analysis, word expression and mapping onto a ConceptNet. Deep learning techniques are also used to build and enrich these ConceptNets, which are then able to analyse and index databases, automatically classify documents, and generate synonyms that complement concepts.

In order to inform citizens faster and more adequately, Ghent is pulling the card of Artificial Intelligence. The city chose to partner with Nalantis for the implementation of Citybot, a chatbot that makes it easier for city employees to find their way through the thousands of decisions that are made in a city. The AI chatbot uses Microsoft Azure cloud in the process.
