A SMART AND UNIQUE PLATFORM TO COMBAT COVID-19

THE PROBLEM

In the combat against COVID-19, healthcare institutions struggle with an increasing amount of staff shortage. This puts a lot of pressure on the shoulders of healthcare workers who are working double to even triple shifts in order to treat all patients with equal care.

However, plenty of good-hearted volunteers are willing to step forward and reach a helping hand towards the healthcare industry. Whether they’re doctors, paramedics, nurses, medical assistants, logistics workers or administrative clerks - their voluntary help is of great value during the current care crisis.

The only issue? While there are many healthcare institutions looking for extra hands and volunteers are willing to help out, the Belgian government lacked a system to efficiently match these two and quickly fill in the staff shortage.

HOW WE SOLVE IT

Helpdehelpers.be is a unique, smart and free platform that focuses on volunteers who would like to contribute to the current crisis in the care sector. People with or without experience in the medical field, but also those who can help with logistics and administrative services, can register and get paired up with hospitals and care institutions where the need is greatest.

Volunteers can register by means of a CV, a short description, or a recorded message. Based on this, they will be paired up with hospitals and other healthcare authorities in their region that can make utmost use of their help. Hospitals, healthcare institutions, or other medical centres can quickly and easily announce which job should urgently be officiated, either by means of a written vacancy announcement, or just by a short description in key words or a recorded message.

The platform makes use of natural language understanding technology that analyses the job need and immediately translates the core competences into a short-list of the most suitable jobs for each candidate and the best matching candidates for each job. Moreover, contact details are immediately available for both parties so that everyone can be approached quickly and competencies can be used efficiently where the need is greatest.
